Riley Bice ruled out of Swans’ finals campaign despite being cleared in sexual assault investigation
Sydney defender Nick Blakey reportedly wants out of the Swans as the fallout from the incident at the Pullman Hotel last month continues.
The Age is reporting that Blakely has “indicated to associates” that he wants to be traded out of the NSW club because of a deterioration in his relationship with the club.
Blakely is one of five Swans – including West Australian Chad Warner – who are serving a club-imposed suspension for breaching club behavioural standards.
Blakely, Warner as well as Isaac Heeney, Riley Bice and James Jordon are all suspended for the rest of the season after they partied all night at the Pullman Hotel the night of their win against Essendon last month.
It included bringing women back to a hotel room.
The club-imposed bans are separate from an ongoing Victoria Police investigation into sexual assault allegations made by topless waitresses at the hotel.
This masthead is not suggesting the players are guilty of any wrongdoing, just that they are assisting police with enquiries.
According to the report in The Age, Blakely explored a trade to the Gold Coast last year because his girlfriend in Olympic runner Ella Connolly relocated to Queensland.
The defender has five years remaining on his deal at the Swans which is reportedly worth more than $1 million a season.
