Melanie Sykes goes make-up free as she shares pictures of her shaven head after losing hair in alopecia battle

MELANIE Sykes has shared fresh snaps of her newly-shaven head as she posed make-up free after losing her hair.

The broadcaster, 56, has been diagnosed with alopecia and recently told how she had been left “two thirds bald”.

In her latest images, uploaded to her Instagram grid with the caption “Unwritten Me,” Mel cocked her head to one side as she flashed a sassy look.

She then captured a side-profile picture of her new look, as she wore a white top and accessorised with gold hoop earrings.

In her upload, she added the hashtags self portrait, amuse, light and autoimmune.

According to NHS Inform, alopecia is a “general term for hair loss”.

“I’m two-thirds bald, really. Every time I say I’m bald I laugh, I don’t know why… Thank god I can laugh.”

Mel recently showcased her new wig as she continues to navigate her medical condition.

She recently modelled for her first photoshoot since going public with her condition.
