Dad’s heartbreak as he pulls wife and two children from burning bus but couldn’t reach daughter, 12, trapped in wreckage

A DAD has been left heartbroken after he rescued his wife and two children from a burning bus but was unable to reach his daughter trapped in the wreckage.

The horror unfolded at the Isiklar toll booths on the Northern Marmara Motorway in Istanbul, Turkey, on September 13.

Yusra Serac, 12, was one of two people killed in the crash after the bus collided into the barriers and caught fire while on its way to the capital.

The young girl had been travelling with her parents and two siblings on a family trip to the region.

Her father Mesut Serac, who was badly injured in the blaze, managed to pull his wife and two of his children from the burning vehicle – as well as several other passengers.

However, he was tragically unable to rescue his third daughter.

He added that passengers struggled to escape as smoke billowed inside the bus and the doors failed to open.

“There were other children next to Mesut’s children and he was trying to save them too,” he said.

“They hit the window again and again but could not open it.

“When somebody finally opened the window from outside, the bus was already full of smoke and they could not see anything.

“He saved everyone he could, but sadly his daughter burned inside.”

Mesut was later discharged from hospital and went to the Forensic Medicine Institute to provide a DNA sample.

A family friend added: “A family has been destroyed.

“Her father will not recover from this easily.
