ARSENAL fans went wild after Max Dowman scored a stunning goal – and shredded the Ipswich defender.

The 16-year-old started for the Gunners in their Carabao Cup third-round tie at Portman Road.

With just six minutes on the clock, the youngster broke the deadlock.

And he did it in style, too.

Dowman picked the ball up midway into the Ipswich half from Eberechi Eze.

And after racing towards the penalty area, he shaped to slot Eze in on goal.

Instead, he cut inside with a sensational dummy and brilliant quick feet to bamboozle Cedric Kipre.

Kipre was twisted all ends up and Dowman stepped into the gap and placed his filthy finish into the bottom corner.

And Gunners supporters flooded social media with reaction to the saucy piece of skill which dumbfounded Kipre and had him scrambling to keep his footing.

One beamed: “What a goal from Dowman. It’s the super cancel before the goal for me.”

And a final user even compared him to the GOAT, typing: “That left foot right foot shift around the defender from Max Dowman dare I say Messi-esque…”

The goal was the perfect response to boss Mikel Arteta from Dowman – who is the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.

The manager dropped Dowman from his matchday squad for the trip to Sunderland and sent a warning message to the kid, who dropped down to the Under-21s.

Arteta said: “I wish we could have him [against Sunderland], but we have the limitation with the numbers that we can have.

“He will have his chance, he will have his minutes, and he will have to earn them like anybody else.

“We know the talent that we have, we know the player that we have there, and we need to help him and find a way to make sure that he continues to develop and help the team.”

But with just six minutes of senior football under his belt this season, he was on the scoresheet.
