NIGEL Farage will seek to thwart trade unions donating to Labour if the £72million given to Reform is snatched.

He hit out at plans to backdate a proposed £100,000 cap on British expat donations to March.

It could mean the record twin £36million bungs by crypto billionaires Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo are ruled illegal. In retaliation, Mr Farage said he would ban the millions given to Labour by the unions if he became PM.

The Reform boss told The Sun: “I’m entirely confident that these donations are entirely legal under the law

“Any attempt at confiscation would be met with a direct threat to trade union funding. Which is why, if they try to do this, it would bring down the whole political system.”

Since 2024, unions have given Labour £20million and are among its biggest donors.

The monster donations given to Reform could fall foul of the new cap that is being passed into law.

Mr Farage has insisted the two megabucks donors, who have been living abroad, have not asked for anything in return for their donations.

But amid claims they were trying to buy political influence in Britain, Housing Secretary Angela Rayner said: “Nigel Farage’s sugar daddies made their money in crypto but there’s nothing cryptic about their motive.”

Unions say they should be exempt from a cap. Unison boss Andrea Egan said: “Our money is clean money.” But Labour peer Lord Blunkett said unions should be included.
