Dad finds son, 3, ‘in pool of blood’ after plunging 65ft from Cyprus apartment as post mortem reveals horror injuries

A DISTRAUGHT dad has told how he found his three-year-old son in a “pool of blood” after he plunged 65ft from a Cyprus apartment.

The child’s post-mortem has revealed he suffered “severe cranial injuries” and body blows that would have killed him instantly after he fell to his death from a sixth-floor balcony.

Experts concluded the three-year-old’s vital organs were also shattered when he fell 65ft from his parents’ flat in Nicosia, the island’s capital.

The report by Angeliki Papeta and Orthodox Orthodoxou concluded: “Death was a result of the fall.”

In the coming days further tests will be conducted on blood samples and other organs, they said.

The horrific tragedy is thought to have unfolded when the child climbed through a window onto a closed balcony in the block of flats on Saturday evening.

The family also have a younger daughter.

Police spokesman Vyron Vyronas called the boy’s death “a tragic incident,” explaining that “every measure” had been taken to look after the younger child.

He said: “The parents have been detained for five days to assist our inquiry.

“It was considered necessary even though we understand their grief and emotional turmoil but all sides have to be examined.”

It comes after a Brit toddler fell to his death from a hotel window in Paphos on July 12.

Cypriot authorities were slammed for the way they treated the child’s Brit dad after his son fell out of a fourth-floor window.

The two-year-old boy died at a luxury hotel after allegedly slipping from his dad’s arms and falling 33ft to the veranda below.

The 37-year-old city executive has filed an official request for dismissal with the Attorney General of Cyprus as he faces accusations of causing the death of his son by a reckless act.

He was arrested at the resort and jailed for eight days. He was then charged, released on bail and allowed to return to the UK to attend his son’s funeral.

The Essex-born man, who works at a big four consultancy firm, will appear in court this Thursday to answer charges of “recklessly” causing his son’s death.

If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of up to four years.

Alexandros Alexandrou, the father’s lawyer, stressed there was no public interest in prosecuting the grieving father and that a prolonged prosecution would further traumatise the family.

He said: “We have asked the attorney-general to discontinue this prosecution on public interest and humanitarian grounds.
