CHELSEA fans are shouting for Jesse Derry to be recalled from his loan spell at Sporting CP after spending THREE games on the bench.

The English winger made the temporary switch to the Primeira Liga side in July and will remain there until next summer.

But since the move, the 19-year-old has only played 27 competitive minutes across three different games.

In their opening draw against Estrela Amadora, Derry played eight minutes and picked up a yellow card in added time.

The following week, he clocked 15 minutes on the left wing as his side secured a 3-2 victory.

After that he was benched, before playing just four minutes in the fourth game of the season.

And for the two most recent league games, Derry has watched on from the touchline.

One X user said: “Such a meaningless loan. Sporting are going for the title, they don’t have time to waste on developing other clubs youngsters.”

Another wrote: “It was a wrong decision he was clearly not ready to make that big jump they should have loaned him to the Championship.”

Someone else added: “Bring him home and play him with the 21s until Jan, then send him off to the Championship.

And this summer, Derry penned a six-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge before making the season-long move to Lisbon, Portugal.

The starlet has also earned 15 caps for England U19, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
