THE Premier League was forced to make a statement following Erling Haaland’s controversial goal being ruled onside in the Manchester derby.
The City striker bundled the ball into the back of the net on the hour mark, before it was quickly ruled offside.

Soon after, VAR had reviewed the footage and overturned the offside call.
The Prem statement read: “VAR checked the referee’s call of no goal for offside – and determined that Haaland was in an onside position and recommended that the goal was awarded.
“The VAR also deemed that while in an offside position, Fernandez didn’t play the ball.”
The Premier League rules stipulate that a player will be penalised if they prevent an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision.
