NEW York Giants icon Osi Umenyiora expects a much improved season under the franchise’s new leadership.
And the former defensive end thinks John Harbaugh can turn Big Blue into contenders again, but warned it might take time.

New York finished 4-13 last year and bottom of the NFC East for a second straight season.
Former Baltimore Ravens head coach Harbaugh was appointed in the off-season as part of the team’s overhaul.
Umenyiora, 44, won the Super Bowl with New York in 2008 and 2012.
And he is confident they can launch themselves back into contention under Harbaugh’s leadership.
“I expect them to be a lot better than people are thinking,” Umenyiora told SunSport.
“Their quarterback Jaxson Dart is a dynamic football player and Skattebo is back.
“They’ve upgraded the offensive line with a rookie, and on the defensive line Abdul Carter is just a great football player.
“You add in Brian Burns, who was a Pro-Bowler last year and a dynamic edge rusher and CJ Okoye from Baltimore.

Umenyiora will work on Channel 5’s coverage of the NFL in the United Kingdom this season.
“I’m really excited about it,” Umenyiora said.
“We’re going to be changing a few things from last year. It’s going to be a lot more football, a lot more fun, a lot more excitement and just overall coverage of the NFL in general.
“Those are the learnings from last year and people are going to really enjoy that aspect of it more.
“It was similar to what we did during the playoffs – people seem to really engage with that so that’s what we’re going to stick with.”
