CHRIS KAMARA’S son, Jack, broke down in tears after his father managed to finish the Great North Run despite his ongoing brave battle with speech apraxia.
The Sky Sports legend, 68, was diagnosed with the speech disorder in 2022 and has since had to step back from his broadcasting duties.

Speech apraxia, which often results from a brain injury, causes limited and/or difficult speech ability and affects muscle movement patterns.
Kamara could barely walk a few years ago, but now he has managed to finish the 13.1 mile run.
Kamara told BBC: “When I got to the line, I really couldn’t believe it. And then my legs couldn’t believe it either! And they collapsed below me.
“But it’s so emotional getting around that track.

“I’m back! I know I’m not really, but I am back.”
His son Jack began to speak, but couldn’t fight back the tears as his heart swelled with pride.
Jack said: “So proud. He’s come a long way,” before his voice broke and he had to fight back the tears.
He eventually continued: “He could barely walk a few years ago, so, to do that is just unbelieveable.

Kamara also had a cancer scare following a routine blood test in 2024.
However, it turned out not to be prostate cancer.
