BRUNO GUIMARAES rubbed salt into Sunderland wounds by trolling them on Instagram after leading Arsenal to victory against them.

The Brazilian midfielder was instrumental in the Gunners’ 2-0 win at the Stadium of Light on Saturday evening, scoring a stunning opener from range to break the deadlock.

Sunderland fans had made their feelings about the former captain of their arch-rivals, Newcastle, clear by calling him a “fat rat” upon his arrival on Wearside.

However, Guimaraes had the last laugh as he celebrated by making a “small” gesture with his hands.

The 28-year-old then added insult to injury with an Instagram story after the match.

Guimaraes reposted a picture of him making his celebration from former team-mate Joelinton, with the added caption: “Once a Geordie, always a Geordie.”

He then shared a trio of pics showcasing his goal and celebrations with captions aimed directly at the Black Cats, saying: “They know what they are.

“The fat rat wishes you a nice weekend.”

Guimaraes did save some words for his new fans too.

In a post on his page, where he has 4.1 million followers, Guimaraes said: “My first goal for this club, and to celebrate it with a win like this… I couldn’t have asked God for anything more.

“A special night that I’ll never forget. We keep going, Gooners.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta – who was strangely booked after appearing to try and hug the referee – sang the praises of his new £75million star.

He told reporters of his contribution: “Unbelievable. But again, the personality that he has.

“He comes in and this is a special game for him as well and what it means for him, how he grabs the game, the decision that he’s made.”

Arsenal ratings vs Sunderland: Raya shows why he’s Prem’s best keeper as Konsa endures brutal battle

DAVID RAYA stole the show as Arsenal maintained their perfect record in the Premier League.

The Gunners had to battle for all three points against Sunderland but came out on top with a 2-0 win.

Raya played a key role as he saved a penalty from Enzo Le Fee before Bruno Guimaraes fired in the opener.

Ezri Konsa was saved his blushes by Raya as he gave away the penalty and had a tough battle with Brian Brobbey for the 90 minutes.

Here’s how SunSport’s Simon Collings rated the Gunners at The Stadium of Light…

Arteta added: “The two actions, the goal is incredible.

“And the assist as well to Bukayo to put him through in front of goal, it’s unbelievable as well. So really impressed with him.”

Guimaraes is yet to start for the North Londoners in the league following an injury he sustained after the Community Shield.

However, Arteta hinted Guimaraes was pushing for a place in the starting XI, to which he said: “They all are, to be fair. We had a really tough week, as I said, and they all played.
