BRITAIN’S most dog-friendly pubs have been revealed – and they have plenty of tail-wagging treats on offer for our four-legged friends.
Dog owners will know the struggle of finding a pub where their pooch is truly welcome.

But there are dozens of brilliant boozers that don’t just tolerate four-legged customers, they make them feel just as welcome as their human counterparts.
One of the pubs on the list has its own canine vending machine, while others provide doggy ice cream, cosy beds and special menus.
There are even warm taps and towels for cleaning up muddy paws after a long country walk.
Pet care company Rover sent “Tavern Testers” and their dogs to visit 110 pubs across the UK.

They judged each venue on everything from its atmosphere and accessibility to its dog-friendly facilities and pet safety.
The Brandling Villa in Newcastle was crowned the overall winner, while ten other pubs came out on top in their regions.

Taking the top spot is The Brandling Villa in South Gosforth, Newcastle.

Its star attraction is the “Jimmy Kibble” machine, which dishes out treats to hungry hounds.
And dogs aren’t banished to a corner or left shivering in the garden, as they are welcome throughout the pub.
Fresh water is available and the boozer’s walls are covered in huge dog-themed murals.
It’s also close to the nature park Jesmond Dene, making it a handy stop for a post-walk pint.
The Lion at Basford, Nottingham
Pooches get the VIP treatment at The Lion at Basford, which was named the East Midlands winner.
Dogs are welcome throughout the Nottingham pub and in its garden.
There are beds for sleepy pets, water bowls and free treats – plus special anchor points where owners can safely attach their leads.
Peckish pups can also tuck into dog-friendly ice cream or natural treats including rabbit ears.
Church on the Hill, Glasgow

Church on the Hill in Glasgow’s Shawlands neighbourhood took the top prize in Scotland.
The spacious bar has everything dog owners could need, including water, beds, blankets and poo bags.
There are also special dog-friendly drinks for thirsty pooches.
The Penny Hedge, Whitby

The Penny Hedge in Whitby was crowned Yorkshire’s most dog-friendly pub.
It has a special station packed with fresh water, treats and bowls in different sizes.
Dogs are welcome in the pub’s hard-floored areas, while quieter corners give nervous pets somewhere to settle away from the hustle and bustle.
There is also a gated outdoor space where owners can relax with their four-legged friends.
The Foxglove, Islington

London dog owners don’t have to leave their pets at home when heading to The Foxglove.
The Islington pub welcomes dogs throughout the venue, with water and treats available.
Its secure garden is a big bonus for owners hoping to enjoy a drink outside without worrying about their pooch making a dash for it.
The community boozer also holds dog-friendly events, while clear signs point owners towards its pet facilities.
Quill & Scholar, Lichfield

Hungry hounds can order from their own menu at the Quill & Scholar in Lichfield.
Named the West Midlands winner, the pub has a garden room, cosy indoor snugs and a sheltered courtyard with a pergola.
Not every part of the venue may be open to dogs, however.
Owners should mention their pet when booking so staff can find them a table in one of the pooch-friendly areas.
The Farmers Boy, Brickendon

Muddy paws are no problem at The Farmers Boy in the Hertfordshire village of Brickendon.
The East of England winner has warm taps and towels so owners can clean up their pets after a long countryside stroll.
There’s also a huge garden behind the pub, with even more outdoor tables across the road.
Human visitors can tuck into food and local ales, while the pub also puts on live music and open-mic nights.
The Jolly Farmer, Worplesdon

Surrey’s Jolly Farmer was named the South East’s best pub for dogs.
Its large beer garden gives owners and their pets plenty of room when the sun is shining.
Dogs are also allowed inside the traditional bar, where water bowls are on hand for thirsty visitors.
The pub is close to Whitmoor Common, making it a handy spot for food or a drink after a walk.
And when temperatures drop, punters and their pooches can warm up by the open fire.
The Greyhound Inn, Usk
With a name like The Greyhound Inn, it would be unfair if dogs weren’t welcome.
Thankfully, the Usk pub was crowned the best dog-friendly watering hole in Wales.
It has a dedicated paddock where pets can burn off some energy, as well as water, treats, toys, beds and blankets.
There is also a special dog menu featuring canine ice cream.
Warm taps and towels are available for cleaning muddy paws – and pooches can even stay the night.
Some of the pub’s dog-friendly bedrooms have direct access to a garden terrace.
The Queen’s Head, Troutbeck

Dogs can join their owners on a Lake District break at The Queen’s Head in Troutbeck.
The historic coaching inn, which took the North West title, welcomes pets in its bar and restaurant areas.
Water bowls, free treats, beds and blankets are all available, along with a menu created especially for dogs.
There are warm taps and towels for dealing with muddy paws too.
Owners can pick up maps of nearby circular walks before returning for a well-earned pint.
Dog-friendly bedrooms are also available for an extra charge.
The Curlew, West Parley

The Curlew in West Parley, Dorset, was crowned the South West’s top dog-friendly pub.
It provides water bowls, treats and blankets, while hungry hounds can order from their very own menu.
Natural dog chews are also sold behind the bar.
