A TEACHER who had sex with a teen also admitted sex offences against two schoolgirls, it was revealed today.

Bronwen James, 30, was today convicted of bedding the 16-year-old boy up to four times after they began messaging on Snapchat.

At the time she was teaching PE at Bitterne Park School in Southampton, Hampshire.

James has now been found guilty of of three counts of sexual activity but cleared on a fourth charge.

It can now be revealed that before the trial, she pleaded guilty to nine charges relating to two girls.

James admitted four counts of sexual activity and one of engaging in sexual communication with a child relating to a girl aged 13 to 15.

The teacher picked the girl up in her car and had sex with her at her home, it was said.

She further pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity, one of engaging in sexual communication with a child and a final count of making an indecent photograph of a child.

This related to another girl aged between 13 to 15 who James had sex with in the back of her car.

It was further revealed James received a written warning from a £54,000-a-year private school prior to the incidents.

The teacher had shared her mobile number while working at the exclusive Seaford College, West Sussex.

Despite being reprimanded, James went on to form sexual relationships at two of her workplaces – Bitterne Park School in Southampton, Hants, and Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, Wilts.

The prosecution wanted to tell the jury in the trial about her “propensity” but reporting restrictions were put in place.

Winchester Crown Court heard the teacher “flirted” with the boy before accepting his request to add her on Snapchat.

After exchanging messages, she drove him to Weston Shore, Southampton, where they parked and kissed in her car.

The pair then went back to James’ house where they had sex, which happened on three or four occasions.

Edward Culver, prosecuting, said: “The tennis was on at Wimbledon. They began watching TV before kissing and touching each other.

“She took her clothes off and then he took his clothes off.”

Mr Culver said that the pair performed sex acts on each other before they had unprotected sex.

Besotted James told the boy she “loved him” and wanted to move away with him in daily messages to each other.

She also begged him to call her “Miss” as part of a sordid “fantasy”, the court heard.

The school was made aware of the relationship when a student showed a teacher some messages between James and the boy.

Mr Culver said: “They suggested a sexually charged relationship, he was named as ‘number 8’ in the messages as a cover, him being the eighth man she had slept with.

“Her photo was visible on the phone screen.”

After the offences were exposed, James was later spoken to by police while under caution.

She prepared a statement claiming she had received communication from an unknown number, which turned out to be him, and suggested he was “being put up” to make these allegations by another student.

In her evidence, James told a jury she felt she was immature, easily influenced and very lenient with pupils.

But she denied flirting with the teen and having sex with him – claiming the boy made up the allegations to look “cool” in front of his mates.

James also said she began teaching aged just 21 and described herself as “immature” and conceded she did not think she was a good teacher.

She said: “I just don’t think I was ready for it. As my career progressed, I realised maybe I was seeking validation from the wrong people.

“I think I was a very lenient teacher, I was not strict, there were behaviour policies I would not necessarily follow, such as using mobile phones in lessons.
