BRAZIL chief Carlo Ancelotti has brutally snubbed Matheus Cunha ahead of the international break – and called up Joao Pedro instead.

The South American giants made a shock early exit from the World Cup after being dumped out by Norway in the last-16.

And Ancelotti, 67, has given his squad a shake-up ahead of two friendlies against Australia later this month.

Manchester United striker Cunha is among the big-names to have fallen by the wayside.

The former Wolves man notched three goals in five World Cup appearances during the summer.

But Cunha, who found the net in Brazil’s 3-0 thumping of Scotland, is still searching for his first Premier League strike of the season.

The lack of form has resulted in the Old Trafford favourite, 27, being axed by Ancelotti.

Cunha’s place in the Brazil squad has been snapped up by Pedro following his red-hot start to the campaign.

The Chelsea frontman has already recorded four goal contributions in three top-flight appearances this term.

And Ancelotti was spotted in the Stamford Bridge stands as Pedro, 24, ran riot against former club Brighton last month.

But the lethal marksman’s inclusion has come after he was left red-faced when he failed to make the cut for the World Cup.

Pedro’s entire family gathered to watch the squad announcement ahead of the summer extravaganza – only for him to be snubbed.

Vitor Reis and Jair Cunha, of Manchester City and Nottingham Forest respectively, are among the Premier League names who will be jetting out to Australia with Brazil.

They will be joined by Arsenal duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Bruno Guimaraes, fresh from his £75million summer move.

Andrey Santos, who made a big-money switch to United during the summer transfer window, has also been selected.

Chelsea winger Estevao Willian and Bournemouth livewire Rayan made the cut as well.

Following the announcement, Ancelotti said: “We are excited to be there because there are a lot of fans in Australia.

“We are going to play against a tough national team. Australia did really well in the World Cup and so we are excited to be there to show our qualities to our supporters.”
