A MAJOR UK motorway has been closed in both directions throughout rush hour in the aftermath of a serious collision.
The M4 in Berkshire is closed in both directions between J8/9, Maidenhead, and J10, Reading.
Emergency services have been scrambled to the scene and a crash investigation is underway.
The road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning peak period.
National Highways said an investigation into the crash will likely remain ongoing for several hours.

A diversion route has been set up with drivers advised to follow the diversion signs.
Motorists have been asked to check their journey before travelling and allow extra journey time.
National Highways said on social media: “M4 both directions in Berkshire between J8/9 and J10 carriageway remains closed
“Thames Valley Police remain on scene, investigations ongoing and are likely to continue for several more hours Currently no significant delays on the approach”
