HARRY and Meghan are hypocrites and clearly angry that they can’t be half-in-half-out royals, experts have blasted.
The Sussexes responded this morning after King Charles laid down the law over their status in Britain following their return from America last month.

While the monarch advised that they should be treated as private citizens, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, said they would rather be in the limelight.
It comes despite the couple previously railing against being in the spotlight and demanding more privacy after their move to Montecito, California.
The pair moved to America following Megxit, when it was decided that they would no longer be working royals.
Royal author Angela Levin explained: “Well, they agreed to something in 2020 when they left and had to sign an agreement about what they would be doing so they wouldn’t use their royal status for commercial gain.

“But they couldn’t bear to have someone telling them what to do, saying, ‘You can’t do this, but you can do that.’
“They are furious about not being allowed to be ‘half-in, half-out’ royals. She’s got to be number one.”
And royal expert Hugo Vickers said their recent return to the UK – revealed in a Sun world exclusive – and attempt to thrust themselves back into the spotlight was completely contradictory to their previous behaviour.
The couple are likely trying to backtrack on the Megxit agreement to boost their own public images, Hugo said.

He explained: “They need to be associated with the British royal family to secure their commercial deals; otherwise, we wouldn’t be talking about them.
“We’ve been told for a long time that they want to be private citizens. We were told they wanted to go away, make their own way in the world, and do various things.
“Now that they have returned, if they want to take part in public life, that is completely contradictory to what was agreed at the Sandringham meeting back in 2020 when the late Queen was still alive. They must accept that.”
The Megxit saga commenced in 2020 when they quit as working royals, moved to America, and repeatedly spoke about their desire for privacy and freedom from the intense scrutiny that came with royal life.
But, the bombshell Oprah interview, a Netflix series, Harry’s tell-all memoir and a string of highly publicised interviews and appearances followed.
The couple have since been embroiled in rows over security and privacy, desperately trying to have their police protection reinstated, and demanding to be left to their own devices.

Despite their pleas for privacy however, the pair continue to appear at public events and have made a slew of TV appearances between them.
Angela added: “Well, Harry and Meghan are talking nonsense. I mean, it’s really Meghan. I recognise the language — ‘public figures.’
“She wants to be better than the King, better than Princess Catherine; she’s got to be at the top of the line.
“Now, if she wants to do that, she doesn’t have to be ridiculous and say she’s a public figure, because she’s actually just promoting her jam. It’s nonsense. But she has this drive that she’s got to be the best.”
Hugo said about the couple’s return: “Presumably, they want to raise their profile. As I said before, that profile is entirely based on him being Prince Harry. In Montecito, California, they are just figures out there.
“If they are back here, they are bound to be identified as members of the royal family, and whatever they do will be seen as competition. The royal family works for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, not for themselves.”
Angela continued: “If you go back over the last few years, anything Catherine or Prince William does, they try to ruin.
“She [Meghan] finds out when their events are happening and tries to distract from them.”
The couple’s recent objection to the King’s reinforcement of the 2020 Megxit agreement, according to Hugo, is par for the course with their behaviour over the years.
He said: “Harry’s entire public stance has become whining about his lot in life.
“He has turned himself into a victim, which is a very strange contradiction.”
The royal expert explained that the pair’s move to the UK may be an attempt to move closer to roles as working royals – and they are expected to become increasingly visible through charity work and public engagements.
This is despite Harry and Meghan previously being told that they cannot be “half-in-half-out” royals, a declaration they appear to be ignoring.
That makes the Palace’s choice of words all the more important, Charles’ letter made clear that the terms of the 2020 Megxit deal remain unchanged.
It stated that the Duke and Duchess had stepped down from representative duties.
Hugo explained: “Everything is contradictory. What she regularly and successfully does is continually reinvent herself, which is why people discuss every new move she makes.
“They don’t always turn out to be successful, but there is always something in the pipeline.
“They may want to be more in than out. But what I really think is that when they are in California, Prince Harry is just a regular guy.

“By coming back to England, they naturally reinforce their identity as members of the royal family, whether working or not.
“If you want to be a private citizen, be a private citizen. If you want to be a public figure, you have to take the rough with the smooth.”
Angela added: “The King was quite right to set the boundary. You can’t have a situation where the rest of the royal family are doing one thing and she and Harry are doing something completely different that undermines their work.
“I think he waited too long before saying, ‘I’m not having any more of this,’ but thank goodness he finally did.
“If you go back over the last few years, anything Catherine or Prince William does, she tries to ruin.
“She finds out when their events are happening and tries to distract from them.”
The Sussexes are understood to have been surprised by the decision to publish the guidance stating that they were “akin to private citizens” when they did not expect it to be made public.
Their spokesman said: “We were a little surprised not to have been told about this [the letter] in advance.”
The biggest row now appears to be over how the couple should be viewed rather than whether they are working royals with the Sussexes previously arguing for years that public life was too intrusive for them.
Harry once described himself as “trapped” inside the Royal Family and praised Meghan for helping him escape.
Angela concluded: “Yes, ‘hypocritical’ is the word for both of them. They behave like dreamers who don’t actually look at what they’ve previously said.
“A public figure is someone who has achieved fame, prominence, and a place at the top of society—that’s what she claims she is.
“Everyone she meets, she thinks is worse than she is, so therefore she’s grand.
“There should have been 35,000 lines drawn around them to stop it earlier, because now people don’t know what’s coming.
