FULLERS has snapped up ten new pubs in a whopping £35million deal, including a popular haunt next to an iconic department store.

The London-based brewer will takeover four freehold pubs and six leasehold properties from rival Stonegate.

Among the pubs snapped up in the multi-million deal includes the Duchess which is opposite the entrance to Selfridges in London.

The Duke of Sussex, Waterloo and The Shipwrights Arms, London Bridge were also included in the deal.

Speaking yesterday, Simon Emeny, Fuller’s executive chairman, said: “I am delighted to be announcing this transaction today. We have always maintained a disciplined policy of only acquiring the right assets at the right price – and they must always be estate enhancing.”

He added the new pubs would be a good fit for the firm’s existing operations, saying: “This collection of 10 outstanding pubs, located in geographies where we already have a strong presence and knowledge of the customer, are a perfect complement to our existing estate.”

And the popular pub chain is not the only firm bolstering its estate.

Wetherspoon‘s is preparing the open a number of new haunts in the coming weeks.

That includes the Belle Vue, in Manchester Airport, which will open on September 15 and follows the launch of new sites in Southampton and Scotland the weeks prior.

Meanwhile, The Cranborne Hundred in Ferndown and The Fletton Brick, Bedford will launch on Tuesday September 29.
