A WOMAN has been stabbed to death in a supermarket, sparking an urgent probe into the horror killing.
The stabbing frenzy unfolded in the aisles of a Lidl in northern Germany.
Police and emergency services raced to the supermarket at 3:45pm after receiving multiple emergency calls.
The suspect reportedly knifed the woman at the checkout area, according to German newspaper Bild.
Two heroic builders jumped in to help the wounded woman after witnessing the attack.
They battered the perpetrator with bottles and slammed him to the ground, eventually overpowering the suspected knifeman.

Tragically, it was too late to save the woman.
Lübeck police confirmed that “a suspect has been seriously injured”.
A German, man, 44, allegedly carried out the attack – and is now in hospital recovering from his injuries, said police.
Around 20 terrified customers had been inside the store in Ratzeburg at the time the knife-wielding suspect launched his attack.

One witness told German news outlet Kieler Nachrichten that he did not think the perpetrator knew the woman he allegedly stabbed to death.
The local homicide squad and public prosecutor’s office have launched an investigation into the suspected murder.
The Lidl has been cordoned off and cops have said there is no danger to the public.
It comes just days after a British woman was stabbed to death at a railway station in Germany.
The pub landlady, 31, died of wounds suffered in a mystery knife attack in Rosenheim, Bavaria at 12.50am on August 30.
Bavarian police said she died in hospital of “severe” injuries and arrested a 27-year-old German man near the scene immediately after the horror.
One day later, a woman wielding two knives stormed Times Square in New York in a sickening rampage – and stabbed to death a mum.
Horrifying video footage shows the suspect waving the two knives in a windmill motion as cops carefully advance towards her.
After repeated refusals to drop the weapons, police shot and killed the perpetrator.
