BETFAIR have paid out over £100,000 in winning bets on a huge night for punters.

With a handful of Championship games, EFL Cup ties and an opening night of Champions League action, it was a big opportunity to get one over the bookies.

And the results that followed, it ended up a punter’s paradise as result after result fell the way of bettors.

All six Championship games ended with both teams to score, while the EFL Cup ties ended with all five favourites winning.

There were plenty of goals across the European ties too, with Dortmund, Man City and Real Madrid all winning.

Which all meant the bookies taking a hammering, with Betfair themselves taking in 106 bets which paid out over £1000.

The best of the lot was a Championship BTTS and match result bet for £3, with Sheffield United, Watford, Southampton, and West Ham all to win whilst conceding, and Wrexham v Burnley and Cardiff v Stoke ending a draw.

On for a £7,000 pay out, that bet was cashed out for £6,988.41.

While bets placed for as little as £1 were included in the 106 which paid out four figures in a night to remember.

Betfair Spokesperson, James Mackie said: “It was a night to remember for Betfair punters on Tuesday evening as the return of the 2026/27 Champions League sparked winners galore.

“Across the European fixtures, Championship, and EFL Cup action punters took advantage of the ties on offer. 106 successful punters won over £1000, with some of them managing to secure winnings from just a £1 stake.

“The pick of the bunch, which secured the bettor close to £7k from a £3 stake, saw them cash out for £6,988.41 on a BTTS and win six-fold which saw Sheffield United, Watford, Southampton, and West Ham successfully win whilst conceding, and Wrexham v Burnley and Cardiff v Stoke correctly predicted to finish in a stalemate with all four teams scoring.

“Congratulations to the winning punters on this amazing night from everyone at Betfair.”
