The two teams were meeting in Portugal during the Champions League league phase.

In the first half of the match, City star Guehi went up for a header and caught Veiga with his elbow.

The midfielder came off much the worse of the two and was covered in blood as he lay on the pitch.

Guehi, 26, escaped any punishment from referee Szymon Marciniak but fans think that was wrong.

A fourth said: “Guehi is lucky there. That is a dangerous challenge.”

Another added: “How is Guehi not getting a red card for this rash tackle?”

After a couple of minutes of treatment, Viega was able to continue and play resumed.

There were some hard feelings between the two teams after the half-time whistle blew.

City players and staff clashed with the Porto team as they headed towards the tunnel.

Security was called upon to separate the arguing sides from the brawl at the mouth of the tunnel.

Amazon Prime reporter Gabriel Clarke offered an insight into what occurred.

He said: “That anger triggered by the Veiga-Guehi incident, the pushing and the shoving, the bad-tempered behaviour, continued down the tunnel as the players came off for half-time.

“Security for both teams were involved in separating the backroom staff and players from both sides as they entered the mouth of the tunnel.”

Reports in the stadium claimed that the tunnel could be seen “shaking” during the ruckus between the teams.

Former Chelsea and Everton star Pat Nevin defended Guehi as he argued his arm can not disappear.

However, he did admit that it could be seen as “reckless”.

He said on the BBC: “Where do you put your arm?

“If you’re going for the header and someone is lower you can’t make your arm disappear.
