B&Q is selling a cost-saving autumn gadget that will dry your clothes in the colder months without the need of a tumble dryer.

The product costs only 1p-an-hour to run – and it’ll get rid of mould too.

In the UK, the average tumble dryer will cost around £0.30 to £1.40 per load to run according to BuyDryer, depending on factors like the make of dryer, cycle efficiency and how regularly you use the machine.

To save some pennies, it can be beneficial to ditch the dryer and instead air clothes on a drying rack.

However, the moisture from wet clothing causes humidity levels in the air to rise, and can lead to condensation and damp in your home.

It even has the potential to cause mould if rooms aren’t properly ventilated.
