HOLLYWOOD film producer and horse owner George Waud will fund an Arc de Triomphe trip to Paris for 100 lucky punters.

Waud, who owns Arc second-fav Maltese Cross, wants a carnival atmosphere at Longchamp on Sunday, October 4.

So much so that he is covering the cost of 100 Old Gold syndicate members as a way of saying an ‘extraordinary’ thank you.

Grand Prix de Paris and Great Voltigeur winner Maltese Cross – who was second in the Derby – has been one of the horses of the season.

Trainer William Haggas confirmed the three-year-old will head to the French capital rather than this weekend’s St Leger at Doncaster.

Favourite Daryz tightened at the head of the market on Sunday and is now 2-1 following his win in the Prix Foy.

But Maltese Cross is best of the British and can be backed at a general 6-1.

Waud, who is chairman of the huge Old Gold Racing syndicate, said: “The Arc is one of the great occasions in racing and, with Maltese Cross all set for Paris, I want as many Old Gold Racing owners as possible to be part of it.

“I’ve been lucky enough to experience some fantastic days through racing, and I know how much it means to be there in person, so I wanted to give our owners the opportunity to enjoy it together.

“Old Gold Racing is all about creating experiences and putting our owners at the heart of everything we do.

“Hopefully we can get 100 people over to Paris, have a brilliant weekend and, with a bit of luck, cheer Maltese Cross home in the Arc.”

Some 96 of the spaces will go to existing Old Gold syndicate members and their plus ones.

Owners must actively enter via the dedicated online entry form, accessible through their MyStables account.

The number of entries will be linked to the number of qualifying live Old Gold Racing shares held, with one share granting one entry.

Each winning package will include Eurostar travel, two nights in a four-star hotel, breakfast and transfers, as well as access to the Racing Breaks pre-Arc event, the Old Gold Racing drinks event and Winning Post tickets for Longchamp.

There will also be two further packages for a winner and guest available through a completely free-to-enter public social media prize draw via the Old Gold website.
