As a dad to two under two, my idea of holiday luxury has changed dramatically – I still appreciate a sea view and a cold pint but I am equally impressed by a 10-minute transfer, a shallow splash bay, and a hotel buffet that can produce plain beige pasta at 5pm on the dot.
The good news is that making a trip easier on your sanity doesn’t mean making it more expensive.

Side is a massive hit with young families because it pairs reliable sunshine and gorgeous beaches with a broad, flat seafront promenade that’s a dream for pushchairs.
The catch is the transfer from Antalya Airport, which usually takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic.
Also, stick strictly to sealed bottled water provided at the all-inclusive hotels for drinking and brushing little teeth in Turkey.
The hotel to look at is Club Turan Prince World, a sprawling five-star all-inclusive that handles all the parenting admin for you.

Benidorm is essentially engineered to make family travel effortless.
It’s home to long sandy beaches, flat promenades, supermarkets on every corner, and Alicante Airport is a painless 40-minute drive down the motorway.
The hotel to book is Magic Natura, which isn’t just a hotel with a few slides – it’s a full-scale wildlife park and waterpark where you happen to sleep.
It sits right alongside Terra Natura wildlife park and Aqua Natura waterpark, featuring Polynesian-style timber lodges, animal encounters, and splash zones.

Oropesa del Mar is the wildcard on this list – a quiet, purpose-built beach resort on Spain’s Costa del Azahar that most British parents haven’t considered yet.
It’s got wide, uncrowded sandy beaches and flat promenades, giving you a completely relaxed environment without the heavy tourist traffic of the bigger Costas.
Castellon Airport is close by, but Valencia Airport has far more direct links from the UK, giving families a much wider choice of flights.
My hotel pick is the Magic Sports Hotel, part of the massive Magic World complex.
Depending on your board basis, families get direct access to splash pools, soft play areas, character meet-and-greets, and a private beach club.
The life-saver for families here is the splash zone, which uses shallow, padded water floors so crawling babies and early walkers can splash around safely without you having to hold them every second.

5. Lloret de Mar, Spain – Evenia Olympic Resort

In Lloret de Mar, you’ve got beaches, bakeries, and pharmacies within walking distance.
And flying into Girona Airport keeps your transfer under 30 minutes (just avoid flying into Barcelona unless you want a much longer coach ride).
The Evenia Olympic Resort sits set back from the main town streets, keeping bedtime blissfully quiet.
It features a pirate-themed splash park, heated pools, and a dedicated Mini Club.
A massive piece of small print that parents will appreciate: while many resort kids’ clubs only accept children from age four, the club here allows two and three-year-olds to join in as long as an adult stays with them – perfect for filling that tricky pre-dinner hour.
And the hotel’s on-site tropical gardens – which offer wide, tree-shaded walking paths right beside the pools – are amazing for pacing a baby off to sleep in the buggy. How’s that for a hack?

My hotel pick here is AluaSun Costa Park, which packs in a kids’ waterpark, playground, and structured daytime activities.
The hotel runs a free daily shuttle bus directly down to the beach and town centre, saving you from wrestling a buggy onto local transport or doing a long walk in the afternoon heat.
And what I loved here was the treated-water drinking fountains positioned throughout the grounds.
Meaning you can fill up toddlers’ water bottles constantly without buying endless plastic bottles at the bar.

It’s affordable, flat, incredibly straightforward with young kids, and flying into Reus Airport keeps the road transfer to a rapid 15 minutes.
The hotel to book is Ponient Dorada Palace, located 800 metres from Llevant Beach.
It features multiple pools (including a dedicated kids’ pool), a playground, and a buffet restaurant with a lower-level dining section built specifically so toddlers can see and choose their own food.
