The American looked classy in a halter-neck black dress and large emerald earrings as she arrived holding hands with Brooklyn, 26.

The awards praised Nicola on Instagram ahead of the ceremony, writing: “In recent years, the American actress, screenwriter and producer has attracted growing international attention thanks to increasingly multifaceted roles both in front of and behind the camera.”

The Mail reports that Nicola admitted to being out of her comfort zone as she addressed the audience.

She said: “Hi everyone. I am normally more comfortable playing a character as an actor than standing in front of an audience, so please bear with me.

“Thank you so much for this immense honour. To receive an award at the Venice Film Festival is something I will carry with me for the rest of my career.”

Turning her attention to her nearest and dearest, who were all in attendance in the gardens of the Casa Cinema Giovani, she said: “My family are my everything. My mum, dad, (brothers) Diesel and Brad and Brooklyn thank you. You always believe in me. To have your support is the reason I can reach to the stars in the first place.”

There was reportedly a delay to the presentation as Nicola refused to take to the podium five times until her Prima co-star Faye Dunaway was back seated in the audience.

The 85-year-old film legend received a lifetime achievement award at the same event.
