SETTING powder is essential for those with oily skin, but the matte finish can dull skin.
A new breed of brightening pink powders promise to solve the problem. So I’ve put three to the test.

Budget
Maybelline New York Fit Me Loose Powder, £9.99 for 15g, boots.com: This powder is all over my TikTok feed, so I had high hopes – even though I normally don’t rate affordable setting powders.
The colour is quite pigmented so, for fair skin like mine, a less-is-more approach works best to avoid it looking like blush.
That aside, the formula gives make-up a blurred appearance, and managed to keep my oily skin looking matte for around half a day.
Ideally, I’d like it to last longer but for this price I don’t mind touching up.

Morphe Jumbo Bake & Set Setting Powder, £21 for 17.5g, sephora.co.uk: Designed for make-up artists, Morphe is one of the most consistent brands when it comes to delivering value for money.
Their price tags are slightly higher than those on the high street, but you notice it in the quality.
And this powder is no different.
A little goes a really long way, so the tub will last ages, and it keeps my make-up in place all day.

The pink shade isn’t nearly as pigmented as the Maybelline, but it still left my under-eyes looking a fraction brighter.

Kosas Cloud Set Translucent Loose Setting & Brightening Powder, £35 for 20g, cultbeauty.co.uk: I can’t decide how I feel about the packaging – the tub is huge, which is quite inconvenient, but it’s got a genius flip lid inside which stops the powder from escaping its chamber and spilling every time you open it.
Packaging aside, it’s my favourite of the three, and well worth the splurge.
It’s virtually weightless, so you don’t feel it on your face, and it takes down shine without completely mattifying skin, but you can build it up if you want more oil absorption.
