ROY KEANE has given a rude new meaning to xG as he compared the statistic to pulling girls.
The stat became popularised a couple of seasons ago and is a metric that measures the probability of a shot resulting in a goal.
The stat does provide some context to games but does miss the most important figure in football matches… actual goals.
It is not loved by all pundits, and Keane appears to fit into this camp after going off on a rant during an episode on The Overlap.
The former Manchester United star compared xG to going home alone after trying to pull a girl.
He said: “Do you know what that stat is?

Keane’s comparison led to a chorus of laughter from the rest of the group on the podcast.
Gary Neville joined in and added: “Roy, I kept clean sheets.”

To which Keane joked back: “I’m sure you did.”
The clip has been shared on social media and fans have found the comparison hilarious.
One posted: “That’s probably the realest explanation you’ll hear for that nonsense stat.”
A second commented: “The most useless stat. It tells you everything and nothing at the same time.”

During the episode, Keane also revealed he has strict boundaries with new son-in-law Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
