Ipswich vs Liverpool preview
Ipswich in 12th host Liverpool in 13th going into the Premier League weekend opener.
Though on past form, Liverpool will fancy themselves to leapfrog the Tractor Boys in this one.
Despite opening the season with successive 2-2 draws when snatching a point late, the Reds are unbeaten in all of their six Premier League trips to Portman Road – the most they’ve played at a ground without losing.
But it also extended their current winless run in the league to six matches and you have to go back to 2002/03 to find the last time they went seven or more league games without a win.
Their record over promoted sides is really good though, having won 15 and drawn five of their last 20 games against sides that have come up. Their last defeat came against Bournemouth – managed now by Ipswich’s boss, Gary O’Neil.
And he now leads this Ipswich team into this game with a good start to the campaign under their belts and on a strong, 18 home league game unbeaten run.
Their last four league games against Liverpool has seen them concede 17 goals and score just one, so they certainly have to improve on that….
