They discussed Miriam’s new book, Miriam’s Full English, only for ITV bosses to step in after she used a slur.
Having done an impression of Christine’s Northern Irish accent, Miriam turned her attention to Andi.

“You’ve got a black daddy and a white mummy.”
To which Andi corrected: “No, no, no. Both my parents are black”, before joking: “What have they put on me, am I a lighter shade than normal?”
Miriam then used an archaic slur originating from the US – before producers intervened off-screen.
They are believed to have communicated with Andi via his ear piece, as he said out loud: “Oh, okay. They’re getting nervous now. They’re getting nervous now.”

Miriam said: “Don’t be nervous. We welcome everybody. That’s what I want to write about in my book. It’s about inclusion.”
This exchange was later removed from the ITVX version of the interview.
After witnessing the uncomfortable dialogue, viewers took to X to share their disapproval.
One commented: “This isn’t run of the mill racism. It’s 19th century American racism.”
Another penned: “Miriam Margolyes just sounds like a run-of-the-mill racist here. It’s very uncomfortable viewing.”
While a third shared: “We don’t actually call it that any more, on account of it being super racist.”
