MONACO striker Folarin Balogun has been left out of his side’s Conference League squad following his deadline day fiasco with Everton.

The American forward was due to sign with the Toffees for £40million on this week.

It was a fee that Monaco desperately needed to balance their books, and also meant they could then keep Lamine Camara, which was their preferred option.

But there was an issue with Balogun’s medical, and at the 11th-hour the deal fell through.

Balogun was unhappy with the way Everton’s medical team operated, and he informed Monaco he was not comfortable signing with the English side.

The knock-on effect of that, just minutes before the transfer deadline, was that Camara couldn’t be sold to Chelsea either as a deal sheet had not been submitted.

Monaco were left with a hole in the books, and as such Balogun has seemingly been punished, and will not feature in the group stage of the Conference League.

Following the deadline day mishap, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro held a press conference saying: “”Five minutes to close the transfer window there, for us to finish all the paperwork between Monaco and Everton and Balogun.

“I signed the contract. Everton signed the contract. At the last moment, the players decided not to sign.

“And basically, Balogun’s allegation is that I’m not feeling well because of the way the club treated me. I’m not feeling well because Everton’s medical department raised doubts about my future or my health.

“I have nothing, so I’m not comfortable signing a long contract here.”

As a result of the failed transfer, Everton’s forward line is painfully bare, with Thierno Barry the only striker at the club.

Former Manchester United flop Anthony Martial has reportedly been offered to the Toffees to boost their ranks.
