DREAM TEAM managers looking to kick-start their season in Gameweek 3 should consider playing a Booster.
Activating 12th Man appears to be a potentially smart strategy for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the fixtures are aligned nicely.
12 teams are due to play twice this coming Gameweek with Champions League and Carabao Cup action scheduled for midweek after the third round of Premier League games across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The following double headers are particularly appealing:
- ARSENAL vs Chelsea (h) & Napoli (a)
- ASTON VILLA vs Hull (a) & Club Brugge (a)
- MANCHESTER CITY vs Coventry (h) & Porto (a)
- MANCHESTER UNITED vs Everton (a) & Sabah (h)
- LIVERPOOL vs Ipswich (a) & Atletico Madrid (h)

Selecting a 12th Man who is likely to play close to 180 minutes in Gameweek 3 is a good way to target the additional midweek fixtures.
Some Dream Team bosses may feel it’s a tad rash to play a Booster in early September but there are only so many favourable European double Gameweeks and this appears to be one of them.
Generally, there are more points to be had during the league phase of the Champions League than the knockout stage, when things can get tense between evenly matched opponents.
There’s another reason 12th Man makes sense for Gameweek 3.

Gaffers are yet to build their budget much beyond the original £50million cap at this early stage of the season.
Come spring, it may be the case that you have increased your budget through a series of shrewdly timed transfers, allowing you to afford multiple premium options.
The likes of Erling Haaland (£8.3m), Bruno Fernandes (£6.9m), Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.2m), Cole Palmer (£5.3m) and Bukayo Saka (£5.7m) are expensive assets — it’s impossible to afford them all right now.
The beauty of the 12th Man Booster is that the additional player is recruited for free!

No doubt there are many gaffers keen on players such as Fernandes, Palmer and Saka after impressive performances in Gameweek 2 but simply don’t have the funds to acquire them.
12th Man solves this problem, albeit only on a temporary basis — remember, each Booster only lasts the duration of one Gameweek.
The other Boosters are less viable, in our opinion.
Goal Bonus could yield plentiful returns but it’s probably to wise to wait until your team is stacked with firepower, which is difficult given the budget constraints at this stage.
And there’s a danger of wasting Max Captain if the player you were going to captain ends up top scoring anyway — Haaland, for example.
