“At this time, K-9 Handler Thomasson stated that there was a donkey on the side of the hill. The donkey then began to charge at us.”

He said his taser failed to stop HeeHaw.

Garner added: “This in fact did not deter the donkey, so I removed my department-issued Glock 17 from its holster and pointed it at the donkey. I then fired a single round striking the donkey.”

The one-year-old donkey then began to walk away, before collapsing.

The missing girl was later found in a church near HeeHaw’s pasture.

Garner is now on administrative leave as the incident is investigated.

Owner Hannah was furious, raging: “Cops entered my pasture searching for a missing person WITHOUT permission or warning and shot and killed my bottle raised BABY donkey.”

“HeeHaw was raised in the house and did petting zoos he never knew a stranger. And was shot and killed in his OWN pasture for doing what donkeys do. Alerting to a stranger.

“We are heartbroken. He was my son.”

She shared a tragic picture of the donkey lying dead after the shooting, vowing to take legal action.

Devastated by the loss, Hannah started a GoFundMe to care for her remaining animals and establish the HeeHaw Foundation in memory of her donkey who she said was like a son to her.

Hannah said HeeHaw was a much “loved member” of the family who “made many people smile”.

Shocked supporters have rallied behind the family following HeeHaw’s murder and demand the cops release that night’s body camera footage.

Hannah said she has been “blown away” by the support and thanks everyone who has proved that her donkey’s life mattered.

She said: “We will be using any donations left for the farm, care of the animals, a fund for making a HeeHaw foundation and none of it for our personal needs.

“This is not a pay day for us. Heehaws life has no monetary value.”
