A WOMAN has tragically died after suffering a “serious medical incident” at a popular lido.
Horrified swimmers watched on as lifeguards desperately rushed into the water during the horror at Tineside Lido in Plymouth, Devon, yesterday.
Emergency crews, including cops, paramedics and coastguard teams, swooped on Plymouth Hoe at around 1.05pm.
The popular pool was cordoned off as investigations into the tragedy were ongoing.
It remained closed for the rest of the day, according to an announcement by managing firm Plymouth Active Leisure.
A statement on social media read: “Tinside Lido will remain closed for the rest of today following a serious medical incident this afternoon.
“We thank everyone for their understanding.”
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called at 1.05pm following a report of a concern for welfare for a woman at Tinside Lido, Plymouth.
“Emergency services attended the scene.
“She was treated by paramedics but sadly the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
