MILEY Cyrus has been a huge star since making her breakthrough as a teenager on Disney Channel.
Ahead of her 10th album, Bass Persuades, she has made a big change to her stage name. Here’s all you need to know.
Why did Miley Cyrus drop her last name?
Miley Cyrus announced on Instagram that she had dropped her surname from her stage name whilst promoting the upcoming release of her 10th album.
She shared an up-close photo of herself in full glam, wrapped in a black fur jacket, with a red tint over her face and the background.
The Hannah Montana star captioned the post simply, “MILEY.”
It would appear that Miley is rebranding herself, which due to her unique first name, makes it easier for her.
It’s suspected that some of Miley’s new music will express her grief the unexpected death of her godmother Dolly Parton.
Her father, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus insisted it was a “natural progression” for “an iconic superstar legend”.
He said on Instagram: “I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher.
“Thinkin’ about it more and more… Elvis… Prince… and so on. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues! Looking forward to the new album.”
