Natalie Imbruglia lifts lid on health scare, her ‘shameful behaviour’ and what really keeps her up late at night

IT’S a fact of life we all struggle to get away from but Natalie Imbruglia channelled our fascination with doom scrolling into a new album.

Algorithm, the first release from her own label Landgirl Records, is an 11-track album of upbeat but emotional songs.

The brilliant Just Drive, released in July, was a tease of the slew of hidden gems on the record, including opener Debbie and Sounds Like It Feels.

So what, I ask the Torn singer, keeps her up late at night on her phone.

“Conspiracy stuff,” Natalie replies with a cheeky smile. “I read them with a wry eye but they’re fascinating.”

Inspired by her own life experiences, Natalie admits going through the perimenopause had a big impact on her writing.

“The way I was behaving felt shameful,” Nataie says.

“But it felt like everyone was screaming at me.

“I kept saying, ‘I don’t feel like myself’. You start thinking, ‘What is wrong with me?’

“I had scans, I went to a rheumatoid specialist, I thought I had lupus.”

After starting hormone treatment, Natalie found her balance again.

Starting Landgirl Records she explains was “liberating” as we chat about her life at home in the countryside with her son, who she welcomed through IVF in 2019.

Happily single, Natalie seems totally at peace.

“I’m actually on my feet and not needing that,” Natalie says.

“I’m so fulfilled with work and my son. To me, this is all perfect.”

Now Natalie is gearing up to get back on stage, and she couldn’t be more excited.

“I’m definitely doing shows next year which we’ll announce before Christmas,” she says.

“These songs are amazing and they were written for live performing.”

CELINE‘S £1M HOTEL BILL AHEAD OF GIG

CELINE DION’s big comeback is just days away, with fans flocking to Paris to see the music icon return to the stage a week tomorrow.

And it’s safe to say the vocal powerhouse is living like a queen, racking up almost £1million in hotel bills while in the French capital, after flying in last weekend.

Luckily for her, though, I understand the cash is being stumped up by her promoters, AEG Live.

The Canadian superstar is staying in the 5H Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris, where her £17,000- a-night suite boasts three marble bathrooms.

Helpfully, it also includes a private gym for her to continue to get fighting fit ahead of the shows, away from guests and their camera phones.

A source said: “Celine is being treated like the music royalty she is.

“She arrived in Paris last month ahead of the first gig and will be at Raffles for all of her stay.

“£1million is an insane amount for any hotel bill, but when you think of the many millions the shows are making for both AEG and Paris’s economy, it’s just a drop in the ocean.”

It’s been six years since Celine last performed a full show, amid a series of health battles, including living with stiff-person syndrome.

Hopefully, her big comeback will be worth the wait.

Kaia in birthday bodysuit

AS a top model, Kaia Gerber knows you have to suffer for fashion, so that’s why she still looked stunning while reclining on this rocky beach in a photoshoot for Givenchy.

She has been shapped up by the designer brand and wore a highlighter yellow outfit with a chunky black necklace to splay out on the uncomfortable-looking stones.

But she’s in good company as Kaia is fronting the campaign with Nineties fashion star Eva Herzigova.

Thankfully, the actress had a more comfortable day when she celebrated her 25th birthday with an outing to Disneyland with her pals.

It’s been a good year for her so far, as she has had a starring role in the TV series The Shards and landed the cover of the US Vogue.

All of that ought to have made it a very happy birthday indeed.

ARIANA TO PROMOTE FOCKERS

ARIANA GRANDE’s break from the public eye will include a small amount of work, as insiders have confirmed she will still promote her Meet The Parents film sequel, Focker-In-Law.

She completed her Eternal Sunshine tour in London on Tuesday and is now taking a break from the industry, following intense public scrutiny regarding her appearance.

However, Ariana will make a handful of press appearances for the film, out on November 25, in which she stars opposite Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

That said, sources in the US insist her schedule won’t be anything like as strenuous as the slew of interviews and premieres she undertook for the two Wicked films.

That’s certainly going to be for the best.

DEAN’S SACRIFICE FOR BBC

DEAN McCULLOUGH has admitted “sacrificing my public views” to be a presenter on Radio 1.

He hosted his final show after six years at the BBC but confessed he had to be quiet about certain parts of his life due to his job with the broadcaster.

Dean wrote on Instagram: “I’d spent three and a half years at LGBTQ+ station Gaydio being outspoken and opinionated on air.

“Moving to the BBC meant sacrificing my public views and in turn, a part of my voice. It’s not been easy and I’ve had to do a lot of my advocacy in the shadows.

“But this chapter has been full of learnings and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to my listeners and producers, the people that matter, for just allowing me to be me.”

BLUNT TURNS TO AIRPLANE MODE

JAMES BLUNT’s eighth studio album, Airplane Mode, will be out on November 6.

Today he has dropped a single from it, Weight Of It All, and announced a European tour kicking off in Leeds on March 26, with tickets on sale at 10am on Wednesday.

Ahead of the launch of his musical Misfits Together in Leicester next September, Bastille’s Dan Smith has released the first song, Oh America.

Dan and Ralph Pelleymounter wrote the project together and they will release the soundtrack, which has been inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s romance wth playwright Arthur Miller, on March 12.

Six months after their debut Wasted On Youth went to No3, The Molotovs have announced the follow-up Welcome To Urbia will be out on April 9, with the first single Urbia, released today.

Other tracks to get your ears around this weekend include Take That and Michael Patrick Kelly’s collaboration Feel My Love and rising star Luca George’s Ashes.

JADE Thirlwall is making moves into the fashion world by signing with global modelling agency Next Management.

The former Little Mix star has struck up a relationship with the firm in a bid to land deals with international brands.
