A TODDLER has drowned just days before his second birthday after falling headfirst into a bucket of water.
Thalison Israel Figueredo Lopes, aged one year and 11 months, was found lifeless at his family home in the historic town of Acari in northeastern Brazil.

He was discovered by his mother – who took his body to a basic health centre in Petrópolis at around 9am.
She told medics that she had found her son submerged inside a bucket of water.
The bucket was able to carry around 20 litres, according to police, though this has not been verified by forensics.
Health workers frantically tried to resuscitate the tiny boy – and called in the town’s emergency department to help.

Tragically, one-year-old Thalison could not be saved.
The youngster would have celebrated his second birthday on Friday, 4 September.
Police have launched a probe into his death and sealed off the family home for forensic investigations.
The child’s body has also been sent for post-mortem examinations to establish the official cause of death.

It follows the heartbreaking tragedy of a British toddler found floating in a hotel pool while the family were on holiday.
The one-year-old was pulled from the pool in the Canary Islands at around 10am before being airlifted to hospital.
For several days the youngster was fighting for her life – before tragically passing away surrounded by family.
Spain was forced to issue an urgent warning to tourists after six children drowned within 72hrs over a weekend in June at the popular holiday destination.
One expert blamed a “tragic lack of supervision” and warned holidaymakers to keep an eye on their kids at beaches and in pools.
Several heatwaves across Europe have also seen a surge in hot-car deaths.
One toddler died after being “forgotten” inside a nursery minibus for multiple hours.
The 18-moth-girl was discovered in “critical condition” in the Peugeot in Portugal – as temperatures outside soared to 30C.
