BEVERLEY Callard has said “something’s not quite right” as she revealed a devastating new twist amid her cancer battle.
The 69-year-old was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year and has regularly updated her followers during her treatment and doctor’s appointments.

She took to Instagram on Tuesday after her latest visit to the hospital and explained what had happened.
“I’ve just come out of the hospital and I saw my surgeon, who is amazing, and my future surgeon because my last surgeon was in England, this one is in Ireland and he’s absolutely lovely,” Beverley expressed.
“They want me to have some more scans and they also want me to see a stomach specialist, a gastroenterologist, because something’s not quite right. And he said, ‘Mind yourself!’, they say that in Ireland!
“He said I’m overdoing it, which I know. And he said I’ve got to rest a bit more, which I know.

“But it’s really hard because I just can’t because if I lay down because I’m tired, my mind tortures… I torture myself. So it’s quite hard.
“I’m doing okay, I’m not going into the depths of despair or depressed as such. I’m not there at all,” the Coronation Street legend admitted.
“But it’s just I think, ‘Oh, when will I be better?’, I’m not a very patient person!
“But I was there with dozens of women who are all going through the same thing and many of them far worse.

“So, really, I thank my lucky stars. People come up and say hello and ask how Jon how he’s doing, because for partners it’s really hard as well. So that’s it, I’ll keep you updated,” she signed off.
The Liz McDonald actress revealed her diagnosis back in February.
Last month, while appearing on the Irish chat show The Six O’Clock Show, she explained the effects that radiotherapy has had on her body.
She said: “Nausea, really tired and just wiped out a little bit.
“And I’m quite badly burnt. But I’m coping really well, actually.”
What are the signs of breast cancer?
Signs and symptoms
Stay alert to symptoms of breast cancer which include:
- A lump or swelling in the breast, upper chest or armpit
- A change to the skin, such as puckering or dimpling
- A change in the colour of the breast – the breast may look red or inflamed
- A nipple change, for example, it has become pulled in (inverted)
- Rash or crusting around the nipple
- Unusual liquid (discharge) from either nipple
- Changes in the size or shape of the breast
On its own, pain in your breasts is not usually a sign of breast cancer. But look out for pain in your breast or armpit that’s there all or almost all the time.
Although rare, men can get breast cancer. The most common symptom of breast cancer in men is a lump in the chest area.
Check your breasts
There’s no special way to check your breasts and you do not need any training. At Breast Cancer Now, they say, it’s as simple as TLC: Touch, Look, Check:
- Touch your breasts: can you feel anything new or unusual?
- Look for changes: does anything look different to you?
- Check any new or unusual changes with a GP
This came after Beverley revealed she finished radiotherapy only a couple of weeks earlier.
She continued: “I got through it amazingly well. I didn’t have any time off work.
“I didn’t miss a day. So I was really sort of proud of myself for that.”
Beverley confirmed she was “back at work” and filming once again, referring to her current role as Lily Patterson on Fair City.
