MORE bank branches are set to shut down this month as part of a major phase-out.
A number of high street locations will close their doors as part of a gradual overhaul to scrap one of Britain’s most well-known banking brands.
Halifax will shut 14 more branches this September after beginning the project in July, with various London sites included in the batch of closures.
The loss of the Halifax stores comes after it was confirmed that the bank would be gradually brought to an end after over 170 years serving the British public.
Lloyds Banking Group confirmed that existing Halifax customers will be transferred to Lloyds brands as part of the scheme.
The upcoming closures will take place across the course of the month, with the likes of Canterbury, Wimbledon, Basingstoke, Woking and Ealing losing Halifax joints.

Despite becoming Lloyds customers, current Halifax users have been assured that none of their banking details will change as part of the crossover.
Jas Singh, Lloyds’ consumer relations boss, said: “As Halifax changes to Lloyds, our Halifax customers will keep everything they know and love today – the same fantastic app design, the same friendly faces in our branches – even the same sort code and account number.
“But as Lloyds customers, they’ll get the best innovation and experiences we offer,” he continued.
“Our Lloyds customers are already benefiting from a significant investment into propositions like Club Lloyds, Lloyds Premier, Lloyds Ultra and Lloyds Rewards – and now we’re really excited that Halifax customers can bank on Lloyds for more.”

Halifax app users can easily move over to the Lloyds app in a few easy steps and view their same accounts.
“If you already use the Lloyds app or online banking, you’re all set and you’ll be able to see your Halifax accounts there,” the Halifax website explains.
“If you have Lloyds login details from a business banking account, these will now also work with the Lloyds personal app and online banking, and your business accounts will stay separate.
“If you don’t have the Lloyds app yet, you can download it and start using it whenever you’re ready.”
