Sanches, 29, can now sign for another side outside of the transfer window after ending his four-year stint in Paris.

The Portugal international joined PSG from Lille in 2022 for around £13million on a five-year deal.

But he struggled to nail down a place in the French giants’ midfield and made just 23 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring twice.

Sanches spent each of the last three seasons away from Paris after being shipped out on loan to Roma, Benfica, and then Panathinaikos.

And was named Young Player of the Tournament before winning the Golden Boy award later that year.

A move to Bayern Munich followed BUT Sanches struggled for regular football and endured a miserable loan spell with Swansea during the 2017/18 season.

He rediscovered his best form at Lille and helped them pull off a shock Ligue 1 title win in 2021 before joining PSG a year later.

Sanches’ exit came just hours after a frantic deadline day which saw Manchester City land Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez in a stunning £125m deal.

Tottenham also raided rivals Chelsea twice.

They took Mykhailo Mudryk on loan and signed defender Tosin Adarabioyo for £10m, while Jack Grealish sealed a loan switch from City to Everton.

Newcastle splashed out £51m on Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

And while Arsenal did NOT secure Julian Alvarez, they did wave goodbye to Gabriel Jesus in an £8.6m move to Barcelona and sent Ethan Nwaneri on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
