AN AXED BBC Radio 1 star has taken a parting swipe at the Beeb, as he revealed his final show is just days away.
Dean McCullough, 34, joins five other presenters who have also been given the chop, to make way for a new line-up of fresh talent.

But as the I’m A Celebrity 2024 star revealed his last show would be tomorrow, he couldn’t help taking a pop at Radio 1, saying he lost his “views and voice” on the network.
Taking to Instagram, Dean shared a clip of himself from his Early Breakfast show yesterday where he talked about his time on Radio 1.
However, in the caption for the clip, which included video highlights from his time with the network, he vented and said: “I wanted to speak openly about my feelings of arriving at BBC Radio 1 six years ago already broadcasting as an out and proud as a gay man.
“I’d spent three and a half years at LGBTQ+ station Gaydio being outspoken and opinionated on air.

“Moving to the BBC meant sacrificing my public views and in turn, a part of my voice. It’s not been easy and I’ve had to do a lot of my advocacy in the shadows.”
Continuing, the axed star said: “But this chapter has been full of learnings and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to my listeners and producers, the people that matter, for just allowing me to be me.

“You’ve no idea how much that means to me and for other queer people in this space.
“And look, it’s not my story to ‘fit in’ and ‘be everyone’s cup of tea’ that extremely boring to me. If I’ve learnt anything in my 16 years of being a presenter it’s ’speak from your heart and the right people will hear you.”

Dean’s Radio 1 career began in 2020, with various cover roles, before landing Scott Mills’ former Afternoon Show two years later, alongside Vicky Hawkesworth.
The broadcaster then moved to Early Breakfast in July 2024, and has been there ever since.
Dean isn’t the only one to be axed from Radio 1, as his I’m A Celebrity campmate Melvin Odoom and his co-host Rickie Haywood-Williams are also moving on.
Nat O’Leary, James Cusack and Swarzy join them in their Radio 1 exit, as new talent is lined-up.
They are being replaced by GK Barry, Charley Marlowe, Mylo & Rosie, and Emil Franchi.
Dean’s last show on Radio 1 is tomorrow 5am until 7am.
