A new production of Hadestown: Teen Edition has taken to the stage at a sold-out Wexford Arts Centre and the talented young people behind it lauded.
The production which was a collaboration between the Slaney Musical and Dramatics Society and Wexford Arts Centre was promoted as a new musical theatre production by and for young people which received a standing ovation.
Among those involved are two graduates of the Creative Youth Lab at Wexford Arts Centre. 17-year-old Dervla Moran made her directorial debut, while 18-year-old Niall Martin played Orpheus in the production.
The production was developed after Dervla Moran, Niall Martin and the producer and support choreographer approached Wexford Arts Centre Executive Director Elizabeth Whyte with the idea of producing the musical.
Wexford Arts Centre said it was delighted to support the production.
Many of the young cast and production team had no previous experience in musical theatre, providing an opportunity for them to develop their skills and gain experience in the industry.
Mayor Vicky Barron also attended the opening and delivered a speech.
