FANS bizarrely raged as Conor Benn was stopped by Ryan Garcia in just the second round of their welterweight championship bout.

Benn, 29, was brutally dropped by his American foe at the start of round two.

The Brit survived an eight-count but then found himself pressed up against the ropes.

Referee Thomas Taylor initially decided to give Benn one more chance to defend himself.

But as the barrage continued, the referee felt he had no choice but to stop the bout.

Incredibly, many fans on social media criticised the stoppage and felt that Taylor had gone early.

“What the f*** was he doing, that was little early STOPPAGE”.

MMA fighter Dillon Danis claimed: “early stoppage”.

Benn was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after his defeat.

But he did update fans via social media – and refused to blame the referee.

He wrote on X: “Not my night, no excuses. @RyanGarcia you’re a great champion”.

Garcia, meanwhile, thanked the people of Mexico before vowing to clean out the division.

The Californian said: “I have always had the right hand, but I carried a lot of injuries so I couldn’t really show it.

“I know people question my Mexican heritage because I don’t speak Spanish.
