Traitors Ireland contestant Páraic K has laughed off the fatal slip of the tongue that saw him banished from the castle on Monday night’s episode of the cloak and dagger show on RTÉ One.
The 41-year-old Assistant Professor accidentally let the word “traitor” slip when he should have said “faithful” at the Round Table and his rivals pounced.
Speaking on Tuesday, he described it as his “Nadine Coyle moment”, a reference to the Derry singer’s slip-up over her correct date of birthday, which saw her let go from RTÉ talent show Popstars back in 2001.
“That Freudian slip was my downfall but listen, it’s 2026 and I am happy to revive the Nadine Coyle moment for myself and I’m happy to take the mantle from Nadine,” he said.

“It was a terrible, bad joke that did not land and I knew it at the time but my fate had been sealed – I was going anyway at that stage. My Freudian slip was confirmation for the other players. You got me!”
Páraic had earned himself the nickname of Mr Double Bluff during his time in the castle and there was something about his slightly shifty behaviour that got his rivals talking over the last few nights.
So he wasn’t a bit surprised when he was got his banishing orders at the Round Table.
“My name was going around the castle from about day three or so,” he said. “And I thought it was a situation I could manage but when you are at that Round Table, it is super-exposed.
“So when someone comes in with that dossier of evidence it really puts a dent in the armour and once that happens, other players who are harbouring fears about you, think – ‘right, it’s now safe to get behind the pile-on’.”
“I was thinking I was on borrowed time but once I heard what they were saying, I knew I was out.”
His fatal slip of the tongue saw him sent packing from the castle, leaving the Traitors one player down and the Faithfuls wondering who could be next.
Having hinted at a “gender dynamic” in the series so far, Páraic said he agrees with Saoirse’s opinion that there is a “boys club” in the castle.
“There’s never an expectation for male players to have particular emotional responses, in my view, but it seems that when a female player doesn’t behave in a particular kind of way . . .
“There seems to be a script that women in the game are expected to follow, that the guys aren’t meant to follow. There was definitely a ‘lads, lads, lads’ vibe, let me tell you. It was turning my stomach because they were refusing to look inwards.
“I remember, in particular with Anna, I was kind of going, why aren’t the guys looking inwards? It’s just women getting banished. I don’t understand this. And my logic with that was serial killers will always will never kill within their own kind of profile.”
