Minimum rates of pay in the security sector are to be increased from 28 September.
A new Employment Regulation Order will provide for an increase in the minimum rate of pay for an adult worker in the sector from €15.41 per hour to €16.15 per hour.
The national minimum wage rate is currently €14.15 per hour.
The Employment Regulation Order will be signed by Minister of State for Employment, Small Business and Retail, Alan Dillon.
Mr Dillon said it will deliver a “well-deserved pay increase for workers in the security sector”.
“The security sector has continued to grow and evolve in recent years, with increasing levels of professionalism and responsibility,” Mr Dillon said.
“This Employment Regulation Order recognises the valuable contribution made by security workers and provides greater certainty and stability for both employees and employers throughout the sector,” he added.
The Minister of State thanked the members of the Security Industry Joint Labour Committee and the Labour Court for their work in securing the outcome.
