Sir, – I am writing regarding Mick Catala’s letter, and his complaint about the price of fish compared with meat (Letters, September 9th).

My wife and I are on holiday on the French Mediterranean near the border with Spain, and we regularly see Irish crabs, mussels, etc at much cheaper prices than at home, even though it’s travelled more than 1,000km. How come? – Yours, etc,
