The Amgen Irish Open winner, Shane Lowry, was spotted celebrating his win in a small village pub in Clare on Sunday night.
Lowry, who took home the Irish Open trophy on Sunday evening following the Doonbeg competition, nipped into Jim Daly’s Bar in Kilmurry IBrickane for a well-earned drink following the competition.
With trophy one hand and a can of Bulmers in the other, the Offaly man was caught on video having an unexpected dig at the Westmeath footballers during a singsong in the West Clare pub.
39-year-old Lowry was recorded leading chants of “you’ll never see Sam in Mullingar” – referring to the fact that Westmeath have never won an All-Ireland football title and taken home the Sam Maguire cup.
Recorded by fellow reveller, Damien McCarthy, Shane was first seen quietening the crowd in Jim Daly’s Bar before launching into the chant.
The Irish Open winner then nipped back out of the pub, to cheers from onlookers.
While Lowry celebrated, he told RTÉ there is “no rest for the wicked” as he was in Adare on Sunday night to take part in a Ryder Cup practice session on Monday.
