From Chili’s to Magnolia Bakery, so many iconic American chains have been setting their sights on the UK of late.
And while many are waiting patiently for Raising Cane’s to open here in 2027, another famous foodie hotspot is currently in the process of setting up shop.
Randy’s Donuts, an LA institution with more than 30 sites across the USA, is gearing up to open in the UK.
While you might not know the name, you’ll likely have seen the brand before, as it’s well known for its iconic stores, which feature giant 32ft doughnut signs on the roof.
Tony Stark famously sat inside the giant doughnut on top of the Inglewood store in California in Iron Man 2, and the doughnut famously fell off and rolled down the street in the film 2012 as an apocalyptic disaster struck.
Here’s everything you need to know about the dessert brand…
Where is Randy’s Donuts opening in the UK?
The company’s first UK location will be at 55 Forrest Road in Edinburgh, Scotland. A planning application has been submitted to the city council for new signage outside the building, with an illuminated logo.
No official date has been given for the store’s launch, but the company website says it’s ‘coming soon’.
And don’t panic if you’re nowehere near Scotland, as this likely won’t be the brand’s only store in the UK.
Randy’s Owner and CEO, Mark Kelegian, previously revealed in 2024 that the brand was looking to expand across the UK, with the potential for up to 50 sites.
He said the initial plan was to launch a regional site before expanding to London, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates following this.
Metro has contacted Randy’s Donuts for further comment.
What’s on the menu?
The doughnut menu in the US is large, featuring a mixture of classic, fancy, deluxe, and seasonal options, as well as Randy’s Rounds, which are like doughnut holes, only bigger.
Classics include a Glazed Raised ($2.50, which is £1.86), Chocolate Raised, Plain Cake, Pink Sprinkles, and Cinnamon Crumb Cake.
In the fancier sections, customers can choose between Maple Long Johns, Blueberry Cake, Glazed Old Fashioned, Cinnamon Rolls, Bear Claws, Apple Fritters, and Jelly (jam) filled treats.
Other flavours available are Bacon Maple, Nutella, M&M’s, Fruity Pebbles, Coffee, Oreos, Matcha Tea, and Red Velvet Cake.
There’s also a selection of breakfast sandwiches such as a Jalapeno Ham & Cheese Croissant and an English Muffin, plus tea, coffee, and cold drinks such as a Peach Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade).
What do people say about the Doughnuts?
Reviews online for the iconic Los Angeles store in Inglewood are positive, with an overall score of 4.5 stars out of 5 on Google and 4.6 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.
Many are quick to claim Randy’s has ‘the best’ doughnuts, with a Tripadvisor reviewer known only as Breaded Goose writing: ‘Absolutely love Randy’s Donuts. Best I have ever had. Tried a few and especially liked the Maple Glaze with the Churro on top.’
Similarly, TravelingWriterWest said: ‘Wow, just wow! These donuts are in a class of their own. Try the buttermilk glazed!’
And LucyJade827 posted: ‘Incredible! The best donuts we’ve ever tasted! So many sizes, shapes and flavours to try that we had to come back a second night! Excellent location and cheap prices.’

Randy’s actually started as a chain of drive-in doughnut shops in Los Angeles, under a different name – Big Donut.
Doughnut machine salesman Russell Wendell created Big Donut in the late 1940s, with the first location opening in Westmont in 1951 and the second in Inglewood, California, in 1952.
That second location was later sold to Robert Eskow, who renamed the store ‘Randy’s Donuts’ in honour of his son.
The Inglewood shop was then sold to Ron and Larry Weintraub in 1978, who kept the name of the business before selling it off again in 2015 to lawyer and entrepreneur Mark Kelegian.
In the last decade, the business has franchised across America and opened locations internationally in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
When Randy’s arrives, it won’t be the only American doughnut chain on UK soil, as it will be facing competition from the likes of Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Canadian chain Tim Hortons.
