Brit tourist, 54, dies while swimming at popular Bali beach – just after holidaymaker plunged down cliff on same island

A BRITISH tourist has died while swimming at a popular beach near Bali – just one day after another holidaymaker plunged to death on the same island.

The man, 54, drowned on Sunday afternoon at Crystal Bay Beach while on a trip with his family, police said.

Local police said: “The victim was a British citizen who was on vacation with his family.”

The tragic man and his loved ones were reportedly on a sightseeing tour of Nusa Penida island.

They had decided to stop at Crystal Bay beach for a swim at around 2:30pm, according to local media.

Their driver left the group and agreed to come back about an hour later.

But when the man failed to return to the meeting point, the driver went to find them before being told what had happened.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the Brit holidaymakers to Griya Penida Medical Clinic.

He was pronounced dead despite efforts to resuscitate him.

Police added: “According to the medical team, the victim was pronounced dead after fluid entered his lungs, causing cardiac arrest as a result of drowning.”

It is currently unclear what caused the man to drown in the sea.

His death came just one day after an Australian tourist died after plunging from a cliff on the same holiday hotspot island near Bali.

Brianna Cronin, 29, was found at the bottom of a steep drop at Kelingking Beach on Saturday morning.

The woman, an ecologist from Queensland, was initially found stuck on the side of the cliff, police said.

But as emergency services rushed to the scene, she tragically fell down and plummeted to her death.

Local authorities believe she dropped down onto the beach, which is also known as T-Rex Bay, at around 9am local time.

They said: “At the time, she was seeking an independent path toward the edge of the cliff before slipping and falling into the ravine.

“When found, the victim had sustained several fractures; we secured her onto a stretcher to facilitate the evacuation process.”
