Ukraine ‘kills Hero of Russia general’ in strike as Trump says Putin & Zelensky agree to halt bombing energy targets

UKRAINE has reportedly killed a top Russian general as Trump claims Putin and Zelensky have agreed to an energy bombing halt.

Lieutenant General Sergei Milchakov may have died in an attack on a military HQ in Donetsk in late August, fresh reports claim.

Milchakov – a close Putin ally – is known for spearheading Moscow’s offensive across Ukraine‘s occupied Donetsk region.

He commanded Russian forces involved in the capture of Avdiivka, New York and other settlements in the key battle-ground area.

Several Russian pro-war bloggers and propagandists reported the death of a Russian military figure they described as a “Hero of Russia,” but did not publicly identify the individual by name.

While reported in the Independent Russian outlet Vazhnye Istorii, the killing of Milchakov has still not been officially confirmed.

If confirmed, he would become the 23rd Russian general killed during Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The news of his reported demise comes as Donald Trump claims that Ukraine and Russia have agreed not to strike energy facilities.

Trump wrote to Truth Social: “Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!”

In comments following Trump’s post, President Zelensky said Kyiv was ready ⁠to ⁠stop strikes ‌on Russia if Ukraine’s allies ensured that Moscow ⁠would cease hitting Ukrainian energy facilities, infrastructure, and food supply routes, RFE reports.

He said: “The war must be brought to ‌an end.

“And a de-escalatory step regarding ⁠critical infrastructure ‌could be the first step toward peace. We expect specifics from our partners.”

Last week, Trump said he had had a “great” conversation with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin and that the Russian leader wanted to reach a deal to end the war in Ukraine.

It comes following a dramatic day along the Polish border as ex-PM Boris Johnson narrowly avoided a passenger train drone strike.

The former Prime Minister was travelling back from a security conference in Kyiv when the preceding train along the tracks was blasted by a Russian drone.

Following the attack, Mr Johnson said: “I don’t know what warped logic drove Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning.

“What we can say for sure is that this is the kind of random and senseless attack Ukrainians are enduring every day – even on civilian railways.

“So far Putin has been responsible for the deaths of 1700 staff of Ukrzaliznytsia – Ukrainian Railways. They and their daily passengers are absolutely heroic.”

Johnson’s journey ground to a halt after the Russian strike blasted the nearby train on the Kyiv-Warsaw line, which was carrying more than 200 passengers.

The train was struck just one mile from the Polish border.
