Michael Noonan is set to depart Shamrock Rovers for Nottingham Forest in January on a free transfer, according to reports.
A medical is pencilled in for Wednesday, as reported on the Daily Telegraph, with the Premier League club set to pay training compensation to the League of Ireland side.
Earlier this year, the 18-year-old had been linked to a move to German side Hoffenheim while Dutch giants Ajax and Portuguese heavyweights Benfica were also understood to be monitoring his status.
Noonan signed for Rovers in January 2025 and a month later he became the youngest ever scorer in UEFA Conference League history with a strike against Norwegian side Molde.
At the weekend, the Sunday Times reported that the FAI are investigating alleged third-party ownership breaches involving involving Noonan and fellow Hoops player Alex Noonan.
It was confirmed earlier this year that a complaint was made by the mother of Michael Noonan to the English FA regarding agent agreements.
Rovers then announced that they are working with FIFA to review two agreements and also denied they were the focus.
The case has been referred back to the FAI, with the Irish governing body seeking documents to help establish facts.
Another Rovers teenager, Victor Ozhianvuna, has already agreed to move to England early in 2027 with Arsenal signing him for a guaranteed fee believed to be in the region of €2m, with the potential for an even bigger payday with add-ons and a reported 20% sell-on clause.
