A well-known Wexford businessman and a dedicated team of volunteers have received a letter from the Irish Cancer Society thanking them for helping to raise over €30,000 as part of the 2026 Daffodil Day drive.
Since Liam Keating lost his wife Anne to cancer 17 years ago, he has tirelessly committed himself to raising funds for services and research.
In a heart-warming letter, the Irish Cancer Society wrote to the Wexford town fundraisers to tell them: “Our Daffodil Day Ambassador and cancer survivor, Katie Foley, wants you to know: I needed help and a community for support at critical moments…. That is the community you join when you give to fund vital cancer services. Daffodil Day is a community of doing, giving and standing together.”
Kerry woman Katie Foley, a single mom to Grace, was diagnosed with late-stage cancer in October 2024, shortly after her 29th birthday. She received the diagnosis after struggling with symptoms like pain and itchiness in her right breast for two years.
The society added that Liam and his colleagues are at the centre of a “powerful community”, both locally and across Ireland and that it is their “help and kindness that makes everything possible for children and adults affected by cancer”.
Liam thanked James O’Connor of Green Acres for his support and is calling on more volunteers to come forward for 2027.
